Mr. Giorgi Kavelashvili has more than 20 years professional experience in public and private sectors.
He is the Founder and Managing Partner at ALTIDO LLC.
January 2016 – April 2017 General Director of Georgian International Energy Corporation.
Mr. Kavelashvili served as a Deputy Minister at the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources of Georgia in 2011-2012.
He was the Head of the Tax Policy Department of the Ministry of Finance in 2009 -2010.
Mr. Kavelashvili has been actively involved in drafting the new Tax Code of Georgia (entered into force from January 2011) and the relevant secondary legislations.
Under Mr. Kavelashvili’s leadership the following agreements “On the Avoidance of Double Taxation with Respect to Taxes on Income and on Capital” has been successfully negotiated and entered into force:
- New treaties: State of Qatar, UAE, Kingdom of Bahrain, Arab Republic of Egypt, Republic of India, Slovak Republic, Republic of Hungary;
- Amendments in the existing treaties: Great Britain, Republic of Latvia, Republic of Austria.
Around 2 years Mr. Kavelashvili was a voting member of Tax Dispute Resolution Counsel under the Ministry of Finance.
Mr. Giorgi Kavelashvili served as a First Economic Advisor of Prime Minister of Georgia in 2007 and 2008.
In 2005-2006 Mr. Giorgi Kavelashvili was Deputy Chairman of State Department of Statistics of Georgia.
Mr. Kavelashvili started his professional career as a junior economist back in 2000 at the largest East European think tank “CASE” (CASE-Transcaucasus) providing “Macroeconomic and Structural Reforms Advice to the Government of Georgia” (2000-2003).
Mr. Kavelashvili studied at the Warsaw School of Economics (Postgraduate Scholarship) and Tbilisi State University where he received Bachelor and Master degrees in Economics.
